The Northern Indiana Regional Science and Engineering
Fair featured 238 projects created by students in grades four through
12 from public and private schools in St. Joseph, Elkhart and Marshall
counties. More than 130 special awards were presented to participants,
including three JINA Junior Researcher Awards for projects involving
nuclear astrophysics/physics, astrophysics/astronomy, or atomic/nuclear
spectroscopy applications:

Bend
Michael Hunckler - St. Matthew School, South Bend
Kristen Anderson and Mengwen Zhang - Bremen High School, Bremen, and St. Joseph High School, South Bend, respectively
The top two high school seniors will have the opportunity
to compete in the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair
in Albuquerque, N.M., in May. In addition, students with outstanding
senior and junior (Grades 7-8) projects will have the opportunity
to compete at the Hoosier State Science and Engineering Fair on March
31 at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
