JINA-CEE Code of Conduct

JINA-CEE Code of Conduct

JINA-CEE brings together scientists with a variety of backgrounds and interests to advance the field of Nuclear Astrophysics. This endeavor is only possible when all participants behave in a respectful, collegial manner.

This Code of Conduct upholds JINA-CEE's commitment to conduct scientific research and education in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and the highest ethical and professional standards

The JINA-CEE collaboration is committed to providing a safe, harassment and discrimination-free environment for everyone. We adopt the definition of harassment by the American Astronomical Society (https://aas.org/policies/anti-harassment-policy). Harassment includes offensive comments or denigrating jokes related to nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

All JINA-CEE personnel, members, and participants are expected to comply with the applicable anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, and scientific ethics laws and policies in effect at their home institutions, and the institutions they are located at. In addition, they commit to work and interact within our collaboration in a manner that is consistent with the intent of this Code of Conduct.

In addition to any applicable reporting requirements at their home institution, any member who wishes to report a violation of this policy is encouraged to speak to or contact the appropriate principal investigator, the JINA-CEE director, Hendrik Schatz, or the JINA-CEE managing director.

For Meetings

JINA-CEE workshops and conferences are community events intended for networking and collaboration as well as learning. We value the participation of every attendee and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and productive experience. Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout the workshop and to abide by the following Code of Conduct. Any participant who wishes to report a violation of this policy is encouraged to speak to ContactA or ContactB, as they have agreed to serve as a point of contact (or if desired, to another member of the organizing team). Thank you for helping make this a welcoming, friendly event for all.

All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds. Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down other attendees. Behave professionally. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
